Owen Wible, Senior Director of Operations, Joshua Owen, Senior Director of Business Development, Cody Messerall, Senior Director of Finance, Hannah Parrish, Senior Director of FieldFor seniors navigating dementia, the familiarity of home isn’t just comforting—it’s essential to their well-being. Recognizing this profound need, Cornerstone Caregiving is dedicated to nurturing that deep-rooted connection through compassionate, personalized in-home care.
Empowerment lies at the heart of Cornerstone’s mission. By enabling seniors to exercise their choice about how and where they wish to age, it honors their desire for belonging, independence and normalcy. Whether they remain in their homes or transition to modern assisted living facilities, the company ensures individual preferences shape their care experience.
Staying in a familiar environment helps seniors with dementia, such as Alzheimer’s disease, avoid the drastic cognitive decline that comes with a transition to an unfamiliar environment. Since isolation or loneliness can intensify this decline—especially for those living alone—Cornerstone facilitates regular interactions with loved ones, providing seniors with the mental stimulation necessary to maintain cognitive health.
“Every effort to prevent unnecessary cognitive decline can offer precious days, weeks, months or even years of sustained cognitive ability,” adds Owen Wible, Senior Director of Operations. “This significantly improves the quality of life.”
The care needs of individuals with neurodegenerative diseases evolve with each stage of their condition. The Cornerstone team remains attuned to these shifts and provides responsive and sensitive care. Whether the individual is prone to wandering, experiences sundowning or incontinence or needs regular socialization, caregivers adapt their approach to deliver care to suit their current challenges, preserving their cognitive abilities for as long as possible.
For too long, societal perceptions have dictated that a diagnosis of dementia necessitates seniors leaving their homes and the lives they have built and loved. Cornerstone’s team is rewriting this narrative by protecting those cherished elements of their lives and ensuring that seniors do not lose the vibrant colors of love, connection and joy from their lives and spend their final years at a place they call home.
Navigating Dementia with Compassion
Caring for a loved one with dementia is an emotional journey filled with challenges and profound moments of connection. As cognitive abilities decline, care demands naturally intensify and spouses, adult children, grandchildren and friends step into caregiver roles and dedicate themselves to supporting their loved ones.
Cornerstone understands the emotional and physical demands that families carry in these moments. By stepping in to shoulder the practical aspects of care, they allow family members to focus on cherishing the final memories of their loved ones.
“We want families to retain their role as sons, daughters or spouses and maintain those vital relationships,” explains Wible.
Built upon the four pillars of compassion, choice, calling and challenge, Cornerstone’s foundation inspires every aspect of care.

Choice respects seniors’ dignity and personal preferences, allowing them to maintain a voice in their care.
Recognizing the noble calling of caregiving, Cornerstone honors those dedicated to this vital service by fostering a culture of respect and appreciation. This commitment strengthens the quality of care provided, creating a ripple effect of empathy that reaches every family they serve.
The challenge of becoming the leading home care provider fuels Cornerstone’s commitment to innovation and customer-centricity, inspiring the team to develop new and effective ways to meet the needs of those they serve.
When a loved one's cognitive abilities begin to decline, families often find themselves in uncharted territory. Cornerstone provides a spirit of understanding, compassion and emotional reassurance. Together with the families, the company helps preserve and strengthen the bonds that hold them close.
Personalized Support Fostering Long-Term Connections
At Cornerstone, care goes far beyond providing services; it centers around forging meaningful relationships and offering comfort during life’s most vulnerable moments.
Every care journey begins with listening. When families reach out to their local office, a dedicated and attentive team member takes the time to truly hear their concerns and discuss care options that honor the needs of their loved ones.
After the initial phone call, Operating Directors schedule a free in-home assessment. This is where Cornerstone’s commitment to personalized care truly shines.
The assessment and discussion extend to spouses, adult children, friends or anyone involved in caregiving. These conversations paint a complete picture of the senior’s well-being, from their medical diagnoses and physician recommendations to the personal challenges the family is facing, creating a deeper understanding of how best to support them.
After gathering all relevant information, Operating Directors devise care plans that are as unique as the individual it serves. They walk families through each step. Families can set their schedules and make decisions that best suit their circumstances, including the ability to start and stop services at any time. Care can begin as quickly as 24 hours of the initial assessment.
Operating Directors often accompany caregivers on their first visit to ease the transition and ensure everything starts smoothly and comfortably. From that point forward, seniors are entrusted to experienced and friendly caregivers who provide steady, supportive care.
Through this client-centric process, Cornerstone becomes a trusted partner for families. Its compassionate approach helps families feel supported, knowing their loved ones receive care that respects their dignity and special bonds.
Preserving a Legacy of Love
A touching and heartwarming story unfolded at Cornerstone’s Jacksonville, Florida office when a devoted husband reached out for respite care, deeply concerned about his beloved wife of 60 years, who was suffering from dementia.
As her condition deteriorated, she became increasingly dependent on him, disrupting his sleep and leaving him physically exhausted and emotionally overwhelmed. Their three adult children, balancing full-time jobs and families, were worried about their father’s well-being and the immense strain of being a caregiver.
Initially, Cornerstone stepped in to provide a few hours of relief each week, offering the husband much-needed rest. However, when he faced health issues and was hospitalized, the compassionate caregivers assumed 24/7 roles to ensure his wife was well cared for in his absence.
As the husband recovered, Cornerstone introduced another caregiver to support him until he was back on his feet. Golf was one of his passions, and the team care for his wife allowed him the respite he needed to continue this hobby, bringing a sense of normalcy back into his life.
Recognizing the woman’s passions, the Operating Director thoughtfully paired her with a caregiver who shared her love for cooking, sewing and crafting. This heartfelt arrangement met her practical needs and allowed her to engage in the activities she once cherished. It brought joy back into her days and rekindled a sense of purpose, fundamentally improving her quality of life.
Over the course of a year, Cornerstone remained with the family during the final chapter of the woman’s life. She eventually passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving children and devoted spouse, with the support of a wonderful hospice partner. They could create beautiful memories without the overwhelming burden of managing her care alone.
“In our early time with the couple, we discovered she had been a devoted homemaker and talented seamstress. Over 60 years of marriage, the couple had fostered 22 children in their home, which is amazing and inspiring. We are grateful to have met their practical needs and helped them preserve the vital parent-child relationships,” recalls Wible.
A Vision for Joyful and Connected Living
Cornerstone’s team does more than show up—it shows up with heart. The company’s success in senior care is built on the shoulders of a passionate team committed to treating each client like family.
Wible brings a distinct perspective to the team, having had a grandparent diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. His journey began from this personal place, motivating him to become a community-trained educator with the National Alzheimer’s Association. Wible has a wealth of experience as the executive director of a memory care facility and is driven by a genuine passion for care and a desire to make a difference in families navigating similar challenges.
The team’s strength extends beyond professional skills, encompassing a dedication to broader community involvement. Many team members are part of their local Alzheimer’s Association boards, contributing to client care and community outreach. Whether through educational programs or participating in events like the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” Cornerstone’s staff and caregivers are advocates and leaders in the fight against dementia.
Cornerstone’s influence stretches far and wide. With a rapidly growing presence in over 200 locations, the company has set ambitious goals to expand into every market and become the leading home care provider in the U.S. This goal encompasses availability—ensuring care is always accessible—and focusing on delivering premier senior care services.
“We want families to know that we will walk alongside them through this chapter, whether brief or long,” Wible sums it up. “With us, they have someone who understands what they are going through. We will help them maintain their sense of self, home, pets and the passions that bring them joy.”
